Rachael Deel
Director of Academic Preparation and Placement
Dr. Rachael Deel (she/her) is the Director of Academic Preparation and Placement in UK Transformative Learning. Prior to her role in the APP program, Rachael served as the Assistant Director for Presentation U and Marketing Director for Transformative Learning since 2014. Rachael earned her B.S. from Clarion University in Speech Communication, her M.S. in Communication Studies from the University of North Texas and her Ph.D. in Educational Policy Studies and Evaluation from the University of Kentucky. She is passionate about student development, writing curriculum, and developmental education. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and animals on their farm, The Good Place.
Redesign UK101 Module
The DEI Implementation Plan is supporting Dr. Deel's ongoing work with UK101 modules. She serves as co-lead for the DEI Redesign UK101 Module.

Rachel Deel: "At UK, we are trying to understand the macro and the micro effects related to DEI. We are working to dismantle systematic and structural oppression to enact change, and we are starting by recognizing that our system – the rules and the policies in which our system operates – benefits some individuals at the harm of others."
UK Transformative Learning
Transformative Learning is a centralized student support unit on campus, a student’s one-stop shop for on-campus academic resources, including Academic Preparation and Placement, The Study, and Academic Coaching. Transformative Learning partners with student service programs and academic units across the university to enhance student retention and progress to degree.
