Janice Kuperstein
Professor and Associate Dean for Faculty Advancement and Clinical Engagement, College of Health Sciences
Dr. Janice Kuperstein (she/her) has a long history of working in the area of diversity, inclusion and belonging. Since joining UK, she has served the university and individual colleges as a member of cultural competence planning committees, has served two terms on the UK Equal Opportunity Committee, was a founding faculty advisor for UK HOPE (Health Occupation Professionals for Equality) and is the faculty advisor for Hillel, the Jewish Student Organization. She currently serves as the College of Health Sciences Diversity Officer and is a member of Inclusive Health Partnerships, a collaboration among health care colleges and UK HealthCare to promote collaboration related to diversity and inclusion. Her academic background as a physical therapist, a healthcare administrator and a gerontologist inform her work through which she seeks to contribute to a healthcare delivery system that is inclusive and patient-focused. She was honored with the 2019 UK Inclusive Excellence Award for faculty.
Dr. Kuperstein (she/her) joined the faculty in the summer of 1996. She earned her B.S. in Physical Therapy from the State University of New York - Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, and did graduate work in Human Genetics at the Medical College of Virginia. She earned her M.S.Ed. in Clinical and College Teaching with an emphasis in Health Care Administration and her Ph.D. in Gerontology from the University of Kentucky. She also serves as the Administrative Liaison to the Center for Rural Health Academic Program. Dr. Kuperstein is a Fellow of the UK Center for Interprofessional Health Education and a Distinguished Fellow of the National Academies of Practice.
Kentucky Hillel
Dr. Kuperstein is the faculty advisor for Kentucky Hillel, a pluralistic and egalitarian Jewish student organization at the University of Kentucky. Kentucky Hillel also serves students from all Central Kentucky colleges and universities.
