Cleophus Price
Assistant Dean of the Graduate School
Cleo Price (he/him) has always been one who felt the need to pay it forward. As an officer in the US Army, he was known for assisting and grooming junior officers for positions of greater responsibility during his 10 years of service. As a student in graduate school, he provided mentoring support to those who had recently started their graduate program. That same philosophy lead him to become the diversity officer in the Graduate School. In 2016, there was a town hall meeting between African American graduate and professional students and UK leadership and one of the six demands by the students is that someone who looked like them be appointed/represent minority/diverse students in that unit, the Graduate School. Cleo was asked to add this huge responsibility/undertaking to the other major pieces of his job in the GS. Today, Cleo provides strategic leadership in the area of recruitment and retention and advancement for diverse and underrepresented graduate students. He also is the advisor for the Black Graduate and Professional Student Association (BGPSA).
