Mr. and Ms. Black UK program continues to inspire students, celebrate Black excellence

For more than 35 years, the University of Kentucky Black Student Union (BSU) and the Mu Epsilon chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. have hosted the Mr. and Ms. Black UK event on campus, making it one of UK's longest and most celebrated student traditions.

UK freshman awarded prestigious national aerospace fellowship

The Patti Grace Smith Fellowship, established in 2020, is a competitive program that partners prospective Black undergraduate students with an aerospace laboratory across the country. This year the fellowship was awarded to 31 undergraduate students from 22 colleges and universities across the country. As a part of the program, Mensah and the other fellows will complete a summer internship, receive a scholarship and be paired with a mentor.

UK NPHC strives to make a difference on campus and beyond

The University of Kentucky NPHC is the coordinating body for eight of the nine historically Black fraternities and sororities. It exists under the umbrella of UK Fraternity and Sorority Life which is housed in the UK Office for Student Success. The council organizes educational and cultural programs as well as community service projects for members and the larger university community. Its signature program is the annual Homecoming Step Show, which has become a tradition on campus.

Applications to 3 LGBTQ targeted scholarships now open
