Start-to-Finish mentorship program now accepting new applicants

The Center for Graduate and Professional Diversity Initiatives (CGPDI) is excited to launch another year of the Start-to-Finish (STF) mentorship program. STF is a mentorship initiative for diverse and historically underrepresented populations in undergraduate, graduate and professional programs. This is a joint effort between the CGPDI, the Graduate Student Congress (GSC) and The Graduate School to provide support for all levels of mentoring. STF leadership team would like to invite you to be a participant in this sponsored mentorship opportunity at the University of Kentucky.

Kentucky Wildcats to be inducted into the Lexington African-American Sports Hall of Fame

The Lexington African-American Sports Hall of Fame Inc. (LAASHOF) will host its second annual Induction Ceremony and Gala 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, at the Central Bank Center in Lexington. Former University of Kentucky Wildcats and Lexington natives have been nominated by the public and hand-selected to be inducted into the 2023 Hall of Fame by LAASHOF’s planning team members.

Gen.G opens applications for the 4th class of its $1 Million Gen.G Foundation scholarship pledge

Global esports organization Gen.G today announced the opening of the application process for the fourth annual Gen.G Foundation scholarship. As a part of Gen.G’s $1 million pledge over the next 10 years, the scholarship primarily focuses on women, people of color and low income students enrolled in a U.S. university or college who are interested in gaming, esports, entrepreneurship, journalism or content creation. Kentucky Black Writers Series, WUKY to host 'SAY IT LOUD: STAND UP'

The Kentucky Black Writers Collaborative (KBWC) and the University of Kentucky's 91.3 WUKY will host "SAY IT LOUD: STAND UP," featuring prominent and emerging Black writers. The event will take place 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at the Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning, located at 251 West 2nd St.

SPARK Program hosting undergrad research informational webinar Aug. 29

The Students Participating as Ambassadors for Research in Kentucky (SPARK) Program is hosting an informational webinar today, Aug. 29, for University of Kentucky and Kentucky State University undergraduates who are interested in applying. The webinar will be held from 5-6 p.m. via Zoom. Applications are due Sept. 18. 

UK campus to participate in United Negro College Fund (UNCF) National Walk for Education

Units across the University of Kentucky campus on Sept. 23, 2023, will participate in the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) National Walk for Education. The Walk for Education is a nationwide initiative to raise funds UNCF needs to support student scholars as they pursue their educational endeavors. With a mission to build a robust and nationally recognized pipeline of underrepresented students, UNCF hopes to create a respected model of best practices in moving students to and through college.

UK's Damon Williams chosen for Academic Leadership Institute Residential Program

Damon Williams, associate vice president for institutional diversity at the University of Kentucky, was selected for the 2023 Academic Leadership Institute (ALI) Residential Program, which was held July 30-Aug. 3, 2023, in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, on the campus of Swarthmore College.

Next UK Cannabis Center seminar focuses on recreational, medical cannabis, health equity

The University of Kentucky Cannabis Center is sponsoring a series of seminars featuring national and international experts on cannabis science. This series will give UK students, faculty and the general public the chance to hear cutting-edge cannabinoid science across a wide variety of specialties (medicine, pharmacology, public health, impaired driving science, agriculture, legal and social justice).
