The University of Kentucky Department of Chemistry and the UK Office for Institutional Diversity have arranged to make the film, "Picture a Scientist," available for anyone in the UK community to view.

The film chronicles the groundswell of researchers who are writing a new chapter for women scientists. Biologist Nancy Hopkins, chemist Raychelle Burks and geologist Jane Willenbring lead viewers on a journey deep into their own experiences in the sciences, ranging from brutal harassment to years of subtle slights. Along the way, from cramped laboratories to spectacular field stations, the film encounters scientific luminaries — social scientists, neuroscientists and psychologists — who provide new perspectives on how to make science itself more diverse, equitable and open to all.

Licensed viewers will be able to watch the film on the Vimeo streaming platform between noon Sunday, Oct. 25, and noon Wednesday, Oct. 28.

The license to view the film is free to every member of the UK community, but you must register at https://chem.as.uky.edu/request-movie-license with your email address, linkblue ID and password to access the film. The registration deadline is noon Friday, Oct. 23.
