Units across the University of Kentucky campus on Sept. 23, 2023, will participate in the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) National Walk for Education. The Walk for Education is a nationwide initiative to raise funds UNCF needs to support student scholars as they pursue their educational endeavors. With a mission to build a robust and nationally recognized pipeline of underrepresented students, UNCF hopes to create a respected model of best practices in moving students to and through college.

With more and more students looking to pursue higher education, more students are coming to UNCF for help. UNCF administers more than 400 scholarships, fellowships and institutional grants at approximately 1,100 colleges across the country that support students at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.

Participants can make a difference — walking, running, cycling — all in honor of UNCF, students and schools.

The UNCF Walk will take place from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, and will start at The Legacy Trail, 318 W. Loudon Avenue (Behind the YMCA). Should students, faculty or staff need transportation to the walk please meet in front of the Main Building (next to the Cannon). The bus will be on a continuous loop back and forth to campus until the event has ended. The first bus will leave campus at 8 am.

The entire Lexington community is invited to team up with family, friends and co-workers to raise funds. Please consider all ways to participate, including signing up as a team captain.

Registration is $25 and additional information for the event is below. Click here to register.

Please join us as we build this bridge together in support student scholars' educational journeys.
