Balance does not always mean stability — sometimes it means learning to be flexible. In this spirit, the University of Kentucky Women’s Forum has decided to transition to a virtual platform for the 2021 Annual Conference. The conference, themed “Balance: The Art of Creating Space,” will now be held in a virtual format on Friday, Dec. 10, at no cost to attendees. With this new date, the deadline for session proposal submissions has been extended to Oct. 12.

We are seeking presenters with dynamic, insightful topics that will offer attendees fresh approaches to finding balance in their lives. Presenters can be located anywhere but must be able to connect online for their sessions. Presenters can share professional or personal expertise during a 45-50 minute session, but presentations must not have a commercial message or sales pitch.

Topic suggestions include:

  • ally development;
  • diversity, equity and inclusion;
  • career advancement;
  • salary negotiation;
  • mid-career development;
  • work-life balance;
  • coping mechanisms for anxiety and stress;
  • maintaining positivity, balance and health;
  • change and uncertainty; and
  • relaxation and wellness.

Please share this opportunity with your contacts who might have wisdom from which we would all benefit. Submitters will receive notification by Friday, Oct. 15, if they have been selected to present. Only proposals submitted through this link will be considered: https://uky.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bsb2kQ5USkewCvc.

Submitted session proposals are carefully reviewed by members of the Conference Committee chaired by Sarah Orr. On occasion, the committee may ask submitters to provide additional documentation for further clarification.

The Women’s Forum Annual Conference is an opportunity to build your professional and personal skills, as well as to better inform the community about the Women’s Forum mission, goals and general membership. Registration will open on Friday, Nov.1, and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. The organization has some exciting things in store for this year’s conference and don’t want you to miss out. Please continue to watch for updates about sessions and the keynote speaker releasing later this month.
